More companies than ever are setting carbon neutrality goals and making claims that products, sites and organizations are carbon neutral. At this time, there are many different ways to define carbon neutrality, sometimes making the claims unclear to stakeholders including investors, customers, employees, etc.

ERM CVS – ERM’s independent reporting and verification business – helps companies hold themselves to an internationally recognized specification for the demonstration of carbon neutrality that allows stakeholders to understand what carbon neutral means.

PAS 2060 – the only internationally recognized standard for neutrality - sets out requirements for quantification, reduction (as documented in a Carbon Management Plan) and offsetting of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, and ultimately documenting and verifying carbon neutrality for organisations, products and events.

The latest company ERM CVS has supported in this way is Roush Fenway Racing, an - American’s professional stock car organization that currently competes in the NASCAR Cup Series.

ERM CVS independently verified that Roush Fenway Racing achieved carbon neutrality in accordance with PAS 2060 for the entire organization including operations, the two race teams and race cars for the period between 1 January 2020 and 31 December 2020.

ERM Partner Beth Wyke: “Achieving carbon neutrality is essential in managing global climate impacts, and Roush Fenway Racing, was committed to holding themselves accountable for their carbon emissions in a quantifiable and consistent way, through their adherence to an internationally recognized standard.”
