Background

The World Bank continues to investigate ways in which areas can develop to generate their own income while at the same time preventing any threat to cultural heritage from these developments.

Our Approach

As part of the World Bank's Cultural and Natural Heritage Protection and Development Projects in China, our Chinese and Iberian offices helped to develop sustainable heritage tourism strategies in the provinces of Gansu and Guizhou, China.

Benefits and Value

The strategies will help to preserve the Province's rich cultural heritage resources in addition to helping to stimulate local economic development.
