The Type of the Organization and the Number of Clients

The organization of my choice is Victoria Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, located in Miami. This long-term care facility occupies a significant area (over 5,000 square feet) and can provide services to over 200 clients as it has 193 private and 30 semi-private suites (“Our Facility,” 2013). The facility provides a wide range of services that fall into such categories as nursing, nutrition, recreation, and social work. The 24/7 nursing services provided include (but are not confined to) intravenous therapy, wound care treatment, physical health needs monitoring, medication supervision, parenteral feeding tube, and so on.

The social work services involve the provision of psychiatry and psychotherapy services as well as psychological and emotional support to clients and their relatives and caregivers. The facility provides care to diverse groups of people. It mainly provides care to aging people, but it also specializes in the provision of rehabilitation services to people who have had certain injuries. The facility provides care to people with respiratory cases as well.

Fit for the Nursing Role

The nursing practitioner working at a nursing home should complete a formal educational course provided by the educational establishment approved by the Board. The nursing professional should also obtain licensure by examination, passing an exam from the department approved by the Board (“The 2016 Florida Statutes,” 2016). The team of the facility mentioned above is a team of high-profile healthcare professionals, and many of them hold a degree. However, having a degree is not a requirement for those applying to the facility mentioned. It is not required by the Board. However, my intention to gain a Master’s degree can be regarded as proof of my commitment to such values as continuous self-development, life-long learning, and professional excellence.

I have the necessary clinical experience to be an effective nursing practitioner in any setting. I can provide essential nursing services. I also have the necessary skills to use all the necessary equipment and tools to provide high-quality nursing services. Furthermore, I have certain skills and knowledge associated with the use of various information management systems used in healthcare facilities. These skills are specifically important to have in the modern healthcare environment as healthcare professionals have to operate a significant bulk of information, which often shapes the way healthcare services are provided. However, this is only a part of the required competences. When working at a nursing home or any other long-term care facility, it is essential to be an effective team member as the well-being of the patient largely depends on the way the team of the healthcare professionals communicates and collaborates (Spencer & Hanania, 2013).

I have the necessary communication and leadership skills to be an effective nursing practitioner in a team of healthcare professionals providing care to clients. Importantly, I have acquired sufficient experience when practicing my leadership skills. I am confident in my ability to lead a team of nursing professionals. I have extensive knowledge and skills associated with cultural diversity. Clearly, this is an important skill for those working in Florida. It is important to note that I am aware of central regulations as well as principles promulgated by the Board of Nursing of Florida (“Florida: Board of Nursing,” 2016). I monitor all the changes related to the requirements and regulations. I also obtain other important information from the Board’s website, which helps me remain informed and fit to the role of a nursing professional in any setting, including the long-term care facility.

New Nursing Role in the Organization

Clearly, I have all the necessary knowledge and skills to fit in the team of the Victoria Nursing & Rehabilitation Center. I expect to become an effective member of the team of professionals. Clearly, I will provide a wide range of nursing services. However, I intend to focus on clients’ education and their emotional well-being. I believe the nursing profession is the one who can and should develop the closest and most effective relationships with clients compared to other professionals (including psychiatrists who may be viewed negatively). The nurse is the healthcare professional who spends most of the time with clients and is often aware of various details concerning their well-being (Spencer & Hanania, 2013). Therefore, it is critical for a nursing practitioner to make sure that the client has the appropriate emotional state. Informing and educating clients on their health issues is one of the ways to achieve this goal. The nursing professional should help the client develop the necessary skills to gain the highest possible level of autonomy.

On balance, it is possible to note that I can become an effective member of a team of professionals working at the Victoria Nursing & Rehabilitation Center. This long-term care facility provides nursing, rehabilitation, and social work services to people having chronic conditions, aging people as well as those who have had injuries. I have the necessary clinical and leadership skills and knowledge to provide high-quality care to this facility’s clients. At that, I will focus on clients’ education as well as the improvement of their psychological and emotional well-being.
